My watch struck 7pm at Exchequer Gate, a dimly lit cobbled street just outside of Lincoln Cathedral, UK. It was a cold, dark Friday night and friends and I were huddled together, dressed in warm hats and scarves awaiting the ghost walk. Suddenly out of nowhere, a black-cloaked figure came into view and slowly ventured towards us.

She was white-haired and pale but before any of us could stammer "g-g-g-ghost," the spooky lady proceeded to collect the entrance fee.

Breathing a sigh of relief, we, the victims, trudged over Castle Square towards the cannon where we listened to strange goings on of a brutal royal murder and the tale of those who haunt Lincoln Castle. As we followed on to the peak of steep hill, we learned about a dead little boy who now sits quietly in the window of the pie shop looking out. I shivered knowing that I was metres away from a ghoul. Margaret Green, our ghostly guide told us to listen out for the sound of hooves at 5am from an eerie black horse and rider galloping down the hill. Would there be a possibility of witnessing Mr Rider if I came out again later? Perhaps there wasn´t a hope in hell unless I drove a Mystery Machine at dusk.
