South America Hostels
Centrally located in the heart of La Candelaria, Musicology sits on the high end of a cobble-stoned street along a rising hill. Backpackers will recognize this hostel by its bright blue paint, complete with a music note hanging above the gated entryway. Living up to its name, there are always tunes to be heard through the grounds of this Spanish colonial house turned hostel.
A Cheap Hostel With High End Musical Tastes
There are two courtyards within Musicology’s walls. Lush green grass dominates the first courtyard, and bricked square the second. Swaying hammocks are hung between the beams along both courtyards, making it far too easy to trade a South American city exploration for a hammock and a good book! Should guests fall asleep in their comfort, they may wake to find the housekeeper has tucked a blanket around them!
Each hostel room is musically named for a different genre. Guests can stay in the Blues room, the Jazz room, Reggae, or Rock. The music endlessly permeating the Andean air is a healthy mix of all genres! Rooms hold between 4 and 10 beds, and prices range from 15,000 to 22,000 COP (Colombian Pesos), depending on how much privacy a backpacker may need.
